Qi Gong is an aspect of Chinese medicine involving the coordination of different breathing patterns with various physical postures and motions of the body. We teach Qigong for health maintenance purposes and for therapeutic intervention. We hold the traditional belief that Qi Gong is an internal martial art. It is very easy and may be practiced by all ages.
Qi Gong relies on the Chinese belief that the body has an energy field generated and maintained by its natural respiration. Qi means breath in Mandarin Chinese. It is sometimes translated as the 'life force'. In traditional Chinese medicine, qi regulates a person's spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical balance. Gong means work or technique. Qigong, then, is "breath work" or the art of managing the breath to achieve and maintain good health. This art is very calming and useful in stress reduction. It may be used any situation at any time.
